IHS seniors earn major honors

Congratulations to two members of the Class of 2023 who were honored at Wednesday’s 28th annual Dr. Michael C. O’Laughlin Outstanding Senior Recognition Ceremony.


CALEB FREEMAN

Caleb was honored as the Eastern Monroe Career Center’s Outstanding Senior – for the entire EMCC program! He has been part of EMCC’s Criminal Justice program the past two years, spending a couple hours each school day at EMCC. He also recently completed a two-month internship with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and earned certification in CPR, Narcan and as a security guard. Caleb plans to study at Monroe Community College with goals of being a 911 dispatcher and one day, a deputy.

MAEVE STECKLEY

Maeve was honored as the Outstanding Senior at IHS. The award is sponsored by Monroe One BOCES, Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES and the Monroe County Council of School Superintendents. Maeve has been a member of Student Council and also selected as a student representative on the Strategic Plan Committee and to review the district Code of Conduct. She was All-Monroe County in soccer last fall and the IHS team MVP. She was co-MVP on the Eagles’ inaugural flag football team last year, and this spring is a member of the 4x800 relay team in track that has qualified for nationals. She will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute to major in civil engineering and plans to play soccer.
