Discrimination/Harassment Complaint
The District is committed to a workplace for all staff and a school environment for our students that is free from harassment and discrimination. We also take concerns of fraud seriously. It is desirable to address and resolve complaints at the earliest stage possible. Normally, complaints will be initially submitted at the building/program level or to your direct supervisor. These concerns will then be addressed by the principal or other appropriate administrator. Complaints may be written or verbal and should include all relevant details along with the names of others who could provide relevant information. The use of the District's Complaint Form (3170F) is encouraged but not required.
Often people are hesitant to report due to retaliation. Please know BOE policy has prohibition of retaliatory behavior (Whistleblower Protection). "A person who is acting reasonably and in good faith, reports suspected discrimination or harassment or participates in a related investigation will not be subject to any retaliation on the part of the District or its employees. Steps to prevent and respond to attempts of retaliation are set forth in the Complaint Procedures." Therefore, we do encourage you to come forward.
The District recognizes that there are times where you may not feel comfortable coming forward directly or there is a need to report this immediately. Therefore, the District has a service called Red Flag Reporting, which is a means to also report complaints regarding fraud and staff misconduct or harassment.
