Smart Schools Project

In 2014, NYS approved an additional $2 billion to Districts for use in a variety of areas including technology as safety.  Each district is allowed to develop local plans for how to spend this money.  West Irondequoit's share is $1,901,143 and has developed a plan to use a portion of that allocation tied to high tech safety and security in our 10 schools.  We intend to update our security cameras and install an incident response system in each our school buildings at an estimated cost of $897,908.

Phase 1

For Phase 2, we will continue to work on high tech safety and security in the district. Specifically, we will continue to improve our security camera coverage, replace our door lock card access system and upgrade our schools with emergency classroom communications capabilities. This phase will cost an estimated $1,003,245.

Phase 2
