Six IHS business students are headed to DECA Nationals! Seniors Gracie Budd, Jacob Gauthier, Alena Kilminster and Aubrey Smith and juniors Ben Loomis and Isaac Nielsen are the super six! Thursday’s 65th annual DECA State Career Conference was held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center with more than 3,000 students from across the state. Results were announced Friday. The DECA International Career Development Conference, which will include more than 16,000 students from all over the world, is April 26-30 in Orlando.

In all, 39 IHS students competed on Thursday, applying what they’ve learned in IHS business classes and via DECA. There were 50 different competitive events at states. Other standouts from Thursday: seniors Owen McCammon, Sara Schaubroeck and Nathan Viele, junior Gianna Geesler and sophomore Mallory Graziano! Note: Loomis and Nielsen qualified for nationals last November. Students chose an area of business that interests them at the start of the school year and prepare to compete in an event related to that area.
