Gold n’ Blues, Irondequoit High School's premier vocal jazz ensemble, earned a distinguished Silver rating at the 2025 NYSSMA Major Organization Festival on May 22 at Rush-Henrietta! The NYS School Music Association brings together some of the finest student music groups from across the state for adjudicated performances and recognition.
Directed by Marc Falco, Gold n' Blues performed a challenging and stylistically diverse set before a panel of expert adjudicators. “I am so proud of these kids. They did an amazing job and worked hard to prepare for this event. This was a new adventure for us and I think it was a really valuable experience,” he said. “Many of the students asked if we could do it again next year.”
The NYSSMA Major Organization Festival evaluates ensembles on tone quality, intonation, balance, technique, interpretation and overall effect.
