May 17: District Budget approved for 2022-23; propositions pass; Sullivan, Shouse elected

West Irondequoit CSD voters approved the 2022-23 district budget, 1,187 to 377 (76%), on Tuesday. The two propositions on the ballot passed. Voters also elected Matt Sullivan (1,290) and Courtney Shouse (1,147) to the Board of Education. Sullivan will serve his second three-year term, Shouse her first.

The first proposition was to authorize the district to acquire the land and former Community Center at 150 Pinegrove Ave. adjacent to Helmer Nature. The building will be renovated to add more classrooms for HNC and other potential educational ventures, including pre-kindergarten classes. The second proposition was to authorize the district to open a $20 million capital reserve fund.
