May 13: Ms. Gayle Pavone appointed Principal at Listwood & Southlawn schools

Ms. Gayle Pavone was appointed Principal of Listwood and Southlawn elementary schools at Thursday night’s West Irondequoit CSD Board of Education meeting. She replaces Mrs. Kelly Santora, who starts in her new role as the district’s Director of Data, Assessment, and Interventions on July 1, 2022. Ms. Pavone is scheduled to begin serving in West Irondequoit on the same date.
“As an experienced administrator, Ms. Pavone understands what it takes to be a highly successful principal,” said Dr. Aaron Johnson, Superintendent of Schools. “We were all extremely impressed with her understanding of early literacy and mathematics and her outstanding reputation as a dynamic and highly invested leader in her current position. We feel that Ms. Pavone's enthusiasm for fostering relationships to support every child and work to provide supports and opportunities for staff to flourish are the perfect match for our community.”
For the past six years, Ms. Pavone has been Principal of Prospect Elementary School, a preK-3 building in the Salamanca City CSD, south of Buffalo. Prior to that from 2013-15, she was Principal (grades 5-7) and Director of Special Education at Cattaraugus Little Valley Central School. She started her career by serving in several roles in the Friendship CSD for 13 years. She taught K-3 and was a reading coach. She was a curriculum coordinator and a coordinator for reading, technology, and grants. She also worked as Director of Pupil Personnel/Student Services, Director of Special Education and was an RtI Coordinator.
A native of Kijabe, Kenya, Ms. Pavone earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Houghton College and Masters from Alfred University. She also owns certifications in educational administration (University of Scranton) and administrative supervision (Canisius College).
Her daughter, Mia, will be a freshman at Rochester Institute of Technology next fall. Ms. Pavone likes to stay active and enjoys hiking and running.
