Mrs. Amy Donk was appointed Director of Student Services for the West Irondequoit Central School District at Thursday night’s Board of Education meeting. She succeeds Dr. Susan Flood, who is retiring at the end of June after 38 years in education and 28 years in West Irondequoit.
Mrs. Donk has served as an Assistant Principal at Irondequoit High School for the past eight years. She begins in her new role on July 1st.
"With a longstanding and seasoned professional in Dr. Flood retiring, so does a great deal of wisdom and institutional knowledge. We are very blessed to have a leader of Mrs. Donk's caliber within our ranks," said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Aaron Johnson. "She can seamlessly step in with confidence to offer a fresh perspective while respecting the deeply rooted traditions and excellence in programming. Through experience, Mrs. Donk has forged trusted partnerships with students, families and staff that has earned her great respect."
Prior to West Irondequoit, Mrs. Donk (formerly Vandergrift) served in the Williamson Central School District as a high school assistant principal and staff developer/instructional coach to faculty for two years. She also was a special education teacher for seven years and curriculum coordinator at Williamson Middle School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Science in Literacy from Nazareth College. Mrs. Donk also earned her Educational Leadership Certificate from the University of Rochester.
She and her husband, Alex, live in Webster with their son, Miles.
