April 14: IHS Business, DiCesare earn W!SE honors again

The hits just keep coming for the IHS Business Dept. For the 14th straight year, West Irondequoit has been named a Blue-Star High School for Student Financial Literacy and Mr. Lou DiCesare also has been named a Gold-Star teacher. The honors come from W!SE (Working In Support of Education). Mr. DiCesare is also advisor to the award-winning IHS DECA Club. To earn the Blue-Star award, a school must have achieved an 80% passing rate on W!SE's Financial Literacy Certification Test and have either a majority of students on a given grade level receive personal finance instruction or a minimum 10% of school enrollment taking the Certification Test. W!se has traditionally announced Blue and Gold Star honors in October. However, the delay in release this year was planned to coincide with April’s Financial Literacy Month.
