New router for IHS Technology students

12/9: New 'Route' to learning for IHS Technology students
Posted on 12/09/2021

Irondequoit High School technology students will soon learn about a new machine in their shop, a CNC Router purchased via a grant from the West Irondequoit Foundation. The Computer Numeric Controlled router allows students to bring to life digital drawings they've learned in middle and junior high school. Not only is this be helpful for future engineering majors, but also for students who want to join the work force right out of school. IHS Tech teacher, Mr. Eric Schultz, says the Rochester area has more than 80 precision machining companies looking for young people with CNC-type skills. The WIF has donated more than $1 million grants to our district over the past 30+ years. Its current fundraiser is an online auction of a section of the old IHS gym floor.
