As COVID-19 relief, West Irondequoit CSD was awarded almost $8.5 million in various federal stimulus funds that comes with specific parameters on how it is spent. With input from our staff, we determined the need for a new COVID-19 Administrator on Special Assignment, and this week Mr. Chuck Miller was named to that post. Miller has worked in West Irondequoit for 28 years, most recently as Director of Data. Prior to that, he was a middle school principal for 12 years.

This short-term position will support COVID-19 related needs over the next three years and be evaluated annually for efficacy. Sample duties include supervising the expanding COVID-19 testing and reporting requirements, supporting COVID-19 related tutoring, coordinating COVID-19 associated supplies and materials and assisting with the additional hiring resulting from COVID-19 strains.

This new position will allow our Principals, Directors, Teachers and all staff to spend more time on tasks with students. We will soon post the Director of Data position and perform a rigorous hiring process to identify the best candidate in preparation for a late January 2022 transition.
