Develop a repertoire of safety strategies applicable to home, school and community.


List the appropriate actions to take if approached by a stranger.


Demonstrate assertive responses to inappropriate requests (No-Go-Tell).


Demonstrate the skills necessary to resolve conflicts peacefully.


Initiate and demonstrate knowledge of the general procedures for life threatening emergencies.


Learn and appropriately apply safety measures effective in thwarting and abduction.

Demonstrate basic CPR techniques and identify resources for formal training.


Demonstrate actions for dealing with individuals exhibiting dangerous behaviors.

Drug Use and Abuse Prevention

Set a goal to be drug free.


Differentiate between use and abuse of a drug.


Explain how personal commitments and decisions related to non-use result in self-empowering actions.


Understand the impact of drugs on behavior, family and community.


Realize the progression of addiction and how it affects the individual and the family.


Investigate the consequences of non-abuse and drug abuse individuals, family, and society.


Understand and explain the law with regard to drugs with the emphasis on alcohol.



Select a balanced diet of foods based on recommended daily allowances found on food labels.


Describe the prevention of the spread of germs through proper hygiene (i.e. hand washing, nose bleeding, etc.).


Apply an understanding of the relationship between the immune system and other body systems to the decision making process regarding wellness and lifestyle habits.


Describe the correlation between personal lifestyle decisions and the proper functioning of body systems.


Formulate a personal wellness plan which addresses adolescent needs and health needs.


Analyze methods of health promotion and disease prevention.


Analyze the role of individual responsibility for reducing or managing health risks.


Integrate on a personal level the impact of the relationship among physical, mental/emotional and social wellness factors.

Investigate the holistic effect of harassment and/or abuse and explore healthy coping skills.

Human Lifecycle



Describe the role of body organs, tissues, and cells and how they work together to destroy viruses and other germs.


Identifying the stages of human development emphasizing the physical changes that may occur.


Investigate the changing roles, needs and expectations during the adolescent experience.


Explain assertive techniques to resist pressures.


Explore and discuss the responsibilities related to parenting.


Identify sources of help for diagnosis and treatment of STD’s.
