Web Sites By Kids!

Our West Irondequoit students have been busy learning and displaying what they have learned.  Here are some web sites created by kindergarten through sixth grade students:

West Irondequoit First Grade Tulip Project: First Grade Journey North Tulip Project

Students were introduced to the Journey North Web Site and participated in a lesson about tulip bulbs.  Classroom teachers took pictures of the students planting the bulbs and the pictures were copied into Front Page as auto thumbnails.

Brookview School Grade Two: City Pictures

The second graders learned about the differences between the city and the country, then used Kid Pix Studio Deluxe to draw pictures of a city scene.  The pictures were saved as GIF images, then put into a slide show using PhotoShow.

Rogers School Grade Four: All About the Iroquois Nation
One fourth grade class took their research about the Iroquois and how they lived long ago and made a web site by typing their information into Front Page and adding illustrations collected by the technology support teacher.  The web site uses a Front Page preformatted theme, including a shared border with a navigation bar.

Iroquois School Grade Four:  Early Explorers of New York

This fourth grade class worked in three groups to divide the information they found about three explorers.  Each student typed his or her information into AppleWorks, then the typed work was pasted into Front Page.  The students then revised and edited their pages in groups, and added a background and pictures collected by the technology support teacher.  The "shared border" feature of Front Page was used to create the links that appear down the left side of each page.

Iroquois School Grade Four:  Birds

This fourth grade class worked individually to find information about birds as a group and about different birds Each student typed his or her information into Front Page.  The students then revised and edited their pages , and added a background and pictures collected by the technology support teacher.  The "shared border" feature of Front Page was used to create the links that appear down the left side of each page.

Iroquois School Grade Four: People of Early Rochester

Iroquois School Grade Five:  Informational Web Page Project

All the 5th grade core students chose topics within three categories to research in print media and on preselected Internet sites.  The students then wrote their essays, typed them into FrontPage, revised, edited, and added finishing touches.  The instructional technology teacher created the index page and links for the informational Internet site.
