January Poems

January

M. Sendak

In January

it's so nice

while slipping

on the sliding ice

to sip hot chicken soup with rice.

Sipping once

Sipping twice

Sipping chicken soup with rice.

January Thaw

by Margaret Hillert

The sun came out,

And the snowman cried.

His tears ran down

On every side.

His tears ran down

Till the spot was cleared.

He cried so hard

That he disappeared.

If You Ever

If you ever, ever, ever, ever, ever,

If you ever, ever, ever meet a whale,

You must never, never, never, never, never,

You must never, never, never touch his tail.

For if you ever, ever, ever, ever, ever,

If you ever, ever, ever touch his tail.

You will never, never, never, never, never,

You will never, never, never meet another whale.

I'm a Little Snowman

[sung to I'm a Little Teapot]

I'm a little snowman round and fat,

Here are my buttons and here is my hat,

When the sun comes out

I cannot stay.

I just simple melt and slip away.

The Snowman and the Bunny

A chubby little snowman

Had a carrot nose.

Along came a bunny,

And what do you suppose?

That hungry little bunny

Looking for his lunch,

Ate the snowman's carrot nose

Crunch, crunch, crunch.
