Dake Summer Reading Contract 2001

DAKE SUMMER READING CONTRACT

Reading is a year round activity for everyone at Dake! We encourage all incoming 7th and 8th graders to enjoy a wide range of reading material, including books, newspapers and magazines throughout the summer months.

During the summer, each Dake student is REQUIRED to read at least TWO books from the summer reading list. One book must be from the English section of the list and will be assessed as part of a writing assignment in English early in September. The second required book may be selected from any OTHER portion of this list. One point of extra credit will be added to the 1st marking period average in the appropriate academic area. Students may choose to read a book from each subject area and receive one extra credit point in each subject area for a maximum of four points to be added to their average for the 1st marking period.

In addition, students who read a total of six or more books during the summer will be recognized and honored at a special Readers’ Party in September. Books beyond the required two may be chosen from any source. Students should NOT feel restricted to the attached list.

A parent or guardian is asked to acknowledge that each book was read during the current summer by signing on the appropriate line.

Contracts for each subject area can be found at the bottom of the reading list for that subject.
