Proper
I do not
wish to be an English lady, hunting comes easily to me
instead of weaving. Others practice having tea, not me!
I come home with mud on my face, unlike my sister, for I lack grace.
I do not wish to be a boy, but can't a lady have some
freedom from her skirts and dresses? I can not make up my
mind, for an English lady's not my style, but being a
boy does not seem quite worthwhile.
Proper was written by a 5th
grade poet. Can you identify what literary devices the
poet used to create the poem? How do you think the poet's
choice of
literary devices helped you understand and appreciate
the poem? |
