About Miss DelVecchio
Hi! My name is Miss
DelVecchio and I am very pleased to be your teacher this year! I am thrilled to be a
part of the West Irondequoit staff at Rogers Middle
School. This will be my third year teaching at Rogers, and I
am lucky to work with such wonderful students and staff each
and every day!
I recently completed my
Master's degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Brockport.
Therefore, I am very eager to teach 5th grade Core this
year. I also have my Bachelor's Degree and NYS certification in Childhood Education from SUNY Brockport.
This means that I am certified to teach grades 1-6.
Fifth grade is a
challenging year full of transitions. It is very different
from fourth grade because you now have the opportunity to
travel from class to class. Whether you are in my class for
Core or Social Studies you will find that our class
is very structured, which allows for positive and engaging
learning activities to occur. If at any time throughout the
school year you need any extra support please do not hesitate
to ask! I look forward to a very exciting year
together.
..Just a little bit more
I used to live in Fort Worth, Texas
where I went to school until I was in the third grade. My
grandparents, aunt/uncle, and cousins still live down there.
Before becoming a teacher I
was a cake decorator at Sam's Club for six years, and LOVED
it! I enjoyed cake decorating because it was something that I
had to work hard for. Every day at work I would
practice icing and decorating cakes until I had enough
experience to create custom cake orders. Making
children and adults smile because of a cake I created was
one of the most rewarding aspects of my job!
I
also LOVE to watch hockey. So, you will most
likely see me at the Amerks games during hockey season. I also enjoy
going to see my other favorite hockey team the Buffalo Sabres.
Every year, I try to go to a few home games, and I had the
opportunity to see the Sabres at their 1st play-off game
two years ago! Hopefully this
year they will bring home the Stanley Cup!

I also enjoy
spending my summers visiting different places. This summer I
was able to visit Orlando, Florida! We spent our whole
vacation in Disney experiencing the different resorts down
there. We even spent a whole day at a place called,
Discovery Cove. There, we were able to swim and feed
the dolphins and snorkel with sting rays and other exotic
fish!

Here we are with Natalie the dolphin we
spent time with that morning

In the past few years I have also been to Aruba, St.
Lucia, and New York City. Last summer I also spent some time
at Stony Brook State Park on hiking
trails.
Look closely and you can see the Statue of
Liberty from the
top of the Empire State
Building.

I had to take a picture with the apple in Times
