Students compete in National Geographic Bee

Carrying on a Rogers Middle School tradition, students gathered in the school gym on Friday, December 21 to cheer on classmates at the 20th Annual National Geographic Bee. Thirteen students in grades 5 and 6 earned seats on stage by competing with classmates prior to the bee.

Answering questions provided by the National Geographic, Andrew Schwenger took first place, with Brian Sikora earning the second place spot. Andrew will take a written test to qualify for the New York State competition to be held in April. The winner of the state competition will advance to the national event held in Washington, DC and have a chance to earn a $25,000 college scholarship.
