FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Iroquois School Clean-up Underway

Neighbors may notice extra activity around Iroquois Middle School on Colebrook Drive over the next few weeks.  Early on the morning of Friday, July 21 a school district security guard noticed water in front of the school.  A water main had broken and water was flowing not only into the parking lot, but into the lower level of the building.

There was up to two inches of water and mud in much of the lower level, the highest point being four inches of mud in a utility room.  Some rooms were not affected at all.  The ground floor of the school houses gymnasiums, music and art classrooms and the cafeteria.  Damage is covered by insurance and a professional restoration crew has been hired to clean the building.

A special education class and the town playground program have been temporarily moved to Colebrook School.  There will be no impact on the opening of school on Sept. 5.
