The West Irondequoit Board
of Education is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a position on the Board
of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) School Board. BOCES is a public educational collaborative
that exists to provide programs and services to its member districts, providing
high quality service in a cost effective manner.
The BOCES Board of Education
is made up of representatives from each of its member districts. It functions as a school board; setting
policy, overseeing financial matters and hiring the BOCES superintendent. They meet twice a month and the term of
service is three years.
David Brookins,
who has represented West Irondequoit Schools, has resigned his position due to
his family’s recent move out of the district.
The West Irondequoit Board of Education expects to appoint his
replacement at the August 10 meeting.
Anyone interested in
learning more about the position should contact West Irondequoit District Clerk
Mary Kay Herman at 336-2983 by July 21.
Potential representatives will be invited to an information sharing
session in late July or early August.
