Irondequoit
announces new curriculum supervisor
The West Irondequoit
School District has
announced the appointment of Ms. Kathleen
Bush to the position of K-6 English Language Arts and Social Studies
Curriculum Supervisor. In her new
assignment, she will also assist Principal Chuck Miller by providing leadership
and student supervision at Colebrook and Iroquois Schools. Ms. Bush replaces Debra Lindsey who was
recently named principal of Listwood and Brookview Schools. The Board of Education is expected to confirm
the appointment at its meeting on July 6.
This past
school year, Ms. Bush has served as interim assistant principal at Dake Junior
High School.
Prior to this, she served as teacher on special assignment, providing
English Language Arts support to teachers K-6 and she was also the Social
Studies Contact Teacher, Grades 5-6. For
two years, she led Summer Institute programs at the 7-12 level.
Ms. Bush
joined West Irondequoit Schools as a teacher at Rogers Middle School
in 1998. She has served as chairperson
of the Teaching Learning Center,
on the District Curriculum Council, the Professional Development Planning
Committee, the Steering Committee for the Word Study Curriculum and was a
member of the English/Language Arts and Social Studies Curriculum Ad Hoc
Committees. She is a member of the
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the New York State
Association for Women in Administration.
Ms. Bush holds a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Nazareth College (’96) and completed her
Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration at SUNY Oswego
(‘05).
“Ms. Bush
brings exceptional instructional leadership experience and expertise to this
new role,” said Superintendent Jeff Crane.
