Pacific Loon

by Christiana

Did you know there's over 1,000 kind of birds?  Do you know any? Well if you do you'll probably like this fact. All birds have feathers.  Many water birds eat fish.  Many birds have weird field calls.   Some birds can make over 10 sounds !!!!! All birds lay eggs.  Most birds can fly.  All birds have two legs. Do you know all birds  have wings?

I think birds are very interesting.  One of my favorite birds is a Pacific loon. They're very beautiful.  Did you know Pacific loons have been found in Rochester? That's very rare. Pacific loons have beautiful field calls. The habitat of a pacific loon is in lakes, ponds, tundra  and northern forest!!!!

The Pacific loon usually stays in the Pacific Ocean. The Pacific loon  changes colors threw summer to winter!!! The Pacific loon  has an amazing length. The length is 24''(61 cm). A loon has a straight slender bill. Pacific loons have a purple reflection.  Pacific loons  are , blackish above, and whitish below.  Pacific loons often show thin ''chin strap.''  Pacific loons have 2 spotted olive-brown eggs. For more information go to www. enature.com
