Editing an Existing Web Page
Open the desired page in Netscape Composer OR open the page in Netscape Navigator, then click on the FileStarting a New Web Page
menu and select Edit Page. Make the desired changes to the page using the techniques described below. Save the page to your hard drive or to a floppy disk.
Open Netscape Navigator. Click on the Communicator menu on the top toolbar; select Composer. This will open a blank page.Changing Page ColorsNow you can add and edit text just as you would in a word processor. Save your work often!
To change the color of your web page, click on the Format menu on the top toolbar, select Page Colors and Properties. Click on the Colors and Background tab. Now you can select your font color as well as the color of your linked words both before and after they are used. You can also select a picture as background for your page. Be careful...too busy can be hard on the eyes.Changing Text Color, Style, and Font
Highlight the text you want to format. Click on the Format menu on the top toolbar, select Character Properties. Click on the Character tab. Make the desired changes.Adding ImagesYou may change font type, size and color by using the formatting toolbar. If you cannot see your formatting toolbar, click on the View menu, select Show and click on Formatting.
Insert Horizontal LinesTo add pictures or clipart to your web page, place your cursor on your page where you want the image to appear.
Open the Insert menu and select Image.
Select the image file from your disk or network drive.
Select the style of "text wrapping" desired...this allows the image to share a line with typing.
Click OK.
You can resize your image by selecting it, then dragging a corner of the image toward the center to make it smaller or outward to make it larger.
To see how your image will actually appear in your web page, you must click on Preview. This will open your page in Netscape Navigator (you have been working in Netscape Composer). To return to Composer and continue editing, click on the Composer Icon (a pencil or a paddle??) which you will find in the minimized Quick Launch toolbar at the bottom of your page.
Place your cursor on the page in the location where you wish to have a line.Adding Links
Open the Insert menu and select Horizontal Line.
To edit the line, double click on the line. A menu will appear.
To shorten the line, click once to select the line, then move your cursor to one end. The cursor will become a double arrow. Now click and drag back toward the center of the line.
Linking to other pages:You can link to pages which you create and have on your own site, or to pages on other sites.Linking within a page:
Select the text which you wish to have serve as a link.
Select the Link icon on the Composition toolbar. (You may also select the Insert Menu and choose Link.)
In the Link Properties dialog box, type the URL for an outside page. If you are linking to a page which you created, click on the Choose File button, locate your page and double click.
Click OK.
To see if your link is actually working, you must click on Preview. This will open your page in Netscape Navigator (you have been working in Netscape Composer). To return to Composer and continue editing, click on the Composer Icon (a pencil or a paddle??) which you will find in the minimized Quick Launch toolbar at the bottom of your page.You may wish to link within your page, especially if the page is particularly lengthy. To do this, first select the words or picture which you wish to have be the target of the link.Correcting or changing a link:
Click on the Target icon on the Composition toolbar. You will be asked for a name for your target. Keep it simple!
Now select the words or picture which you wish to have be the link itself.
Click on the Link icon.
You will see the name you gave to your target. Select that by double clicking; the name now appears in the link location bar.
Click OK.

To return to Composer and continue editing, click on the Composer Icon (a pencil or a paddle??) which you will find in the minimized Quick Launch toolbar at the bottom of your page.To correct or change a link, position your curosor directly over the link and RIGHT click. From the menu that appears, select "Link Properties." This will bring up the Link Properties dialog box. Make your corrections/changes. Click OK.
Adding Tables
Insert a TableSpell Check, Saving, PreviewingPlace your cursor on the page where you wish to insert the table.Adding and Deleting Rows, Columns and Cells
Click on the Table icon on the Composition toolbar.
At the top of the dialog box, select the number of rows and columns you desire; you may also select color at the bottom of the box.
Click OK.Place your cursor inside your table at the point at which you would like to make an addition or deletion.Edit the Entire Table
Right click your mouse button. Select either Add or Delete; select Row, Column, Cell or Table.To change the entire table, click anywhere inside it; to change a specific row or cell, click inside that row or cell.
Select the Format menu and choose Table Properties.
Click on the appropriate tab: Table, Row, Cell. Make desired changes.
Click OK.
From the Tools menu, select Check Spelling.
From the File menu, choose Save.
To preview, use the Preview icon.
