Global History II

Global History II is the second year of the two-year sequence course, Global History and Geography. Our focus will include a continuation of the chronological study of history from the Industrial Revolution (1750) through present day and current issues. (Link to course outline) A comprehensive N.Y.S. Regents exam will be taken at the end of Global History II and will cover material from both years of study. Therefore, it is essential that your student retain all notes, review guides and materials for both years. I require each student purchase the review book, Keys to Understanding Global History, which is available in the West Irondequoit bookstore. It is also recommended that the Barron's Global History Regents Review Book be purchased. Multiple review opportunities will be provided in June for students to prepare for this exam.

The students will be assessed through a variety of means including: group and individuals projects, nightly homework assignments, seminars, visual and oral presentations, essays, tests and quizzes. These methods of assessing student's learning are designed to foster peak performance and allow each student an opportunity to excel. Grade updates will be provided regularly and parents will be notified if their child's average falls below a 70%. Due to the pace of the course, regular attendance is necessary for peak performance. It is my belief that all students have the ability to learn and to be successful. Global History is an opportunity for students to reach their potential.

Extra help is required by all students from time to time. I am available both before and after school as well as through out the school day. A history staff member is always scheduled to be at the Social Studies Department Center on the 3rd floor of the high school (#3050) where they can answer questions or provide assistance during all periods of the day.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me through the Main Office (#266-7351).
