Mangrove Ecosystem Links

 

For those of you who want to delve deeply into mangrove ecosystems, the virtual tour developed by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Science Foundation is excellent.  This virtual tour has enough information that you can become a “expert” on mangroves.

 

Information about three mangrove tree species is available through the Smithsonian Institutions Tree Atlas of Panama. 

White mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa (L.) C.F. Gaertn.)

Red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle L.)

Black mangrove (Avicennia germinans (L.) L.)
