Grading Policy
Grading is calculated by dividing the number of points earned by the total
number of points possible. Keeping track
of your own grade is recommended.
Labs
(20-25 pt) approx. 35%
Homework/Projects
(5 –
50pt) approx. 30%
Tests/Quizzes
(20-80pt) approx. 35%
Class
activities and notebooks are also subject to grading.
Homework is
not accepted late!
For full
credit, it should be neat, complete and mostly correct.
It is due
at the beginning of class.
Labs must be
turned in on date due.
Since all labs are mandatory, you
receive a 25% deduction for the 1st week.
After one
week, the grade will be a 0%, but you earn "lab credit.”
If you receive
a “U” (unacceptable) on a lab, you have 2
days to resubmit it
with
corrections for partial credit.
ABSENCES
It is YOUR
responsibility to get notes, homework assignments, handouts you missed. Find a study-partner you can call, or who
will pick up your things on the days you are absent.
Partner's name & phone #
__________________________________________
You will be expected to make up and hand in all work
missed due to absences. You should
expect to take any tests or quizzes missed on
the day of your return to class.
Make-up tests may be in the form of essays.
Thursdays after school are lab make-up
days. Labs must be made up within one week!
LAB
REQUIREMENT
Lab activities are to be approached with serious
attention to both technique and safety.
Take great care with equipment
and clean your work area.
NOTE: Labs are sometimes
collected at the end of a lab period – so stay on task!
Efficient note-taking is essential. A 3-ring notebook is mandatory. There will be
