Chimney Bluffs State Park – Erosion of Drumlins along the Lake Ontario Shore.  This trip is best in the dry months, very muddy in springtime.

Robert Moses Hydroelectric Power Plant in Lockport, NY - They offer tours of the plant (call ahead) and have interactive exhibits on power generation.  A nice complement to visiting Niagara Falls.

Ontario Science Center – Toronto, Canada.  This is a better weekend trip, but worth it for the diversity of its interactive exhibits.
