“Keys” to Success for 9^th Graders

 

                Practice “mutual respect” in all interactions with peers and adults.

               

                Develop good habits of mind (work ethic, time management,

                organization, wake up early, be on time, etc.).

 

Complete all class work and homework.

               

                Seek extra help when you don’t understand or can’t get started.       

 

Get involved in school activities.

 

 

“Keys” to Success for Parents

 

                Establish structure and routines for homework (time, place).

 

Insist on a reasonable bed time and at least 7 hours sleep!

 

Communicate with your child’s teachers, counselor and administrator.

 

Communicate with your child (when he/she is willing).

               

                Ask about and meet their friends (and their parents).

       

                Limit computer time (especially “IM”!).

 

Use praise frequently!!
