Expectations Essay

***The first writing assignment for this year will be an essay discussing your expectations for your first year of High School. Since most expectations are based in some part on past experiences, you will need to discuss your best and worst experience in school thus far, as well as your most challenging experience.

YOUR TASK:

Create an outline/graphic organizer OR a rough draft (You don’t have time for both!)

Look at your planning page critically and make changes in red pen.

Hand in your final copy on ______________ (All work done in class)

BE SURE TO:

Write an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion

Write only about your expectations for this year – one to two expectations at most- stick to the same topic throughout your essay

-Devote one body paragraph to how you will achieve these expectations

-Devote one body paragraph to your best experience so far

-Devote one body paragraph to your most challenging experience so far

Use a claim, at least two pieces of evidence, and an interpretation of your evidence for each body paragraph
