COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER NEWS: Pre-College Preparation Workshop Saturday, March 27, 2010 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. University of Rochester Thinking about college? The University of Rochester along with representatives from SUNY Geneseo, Ithaca College, MCC, Nazareth, RIT and Syracuse University are offering a Pre-College Preparation Workshop. The workshop is designed for high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The event will include workshops on financial aid, the college essay, accessing and applying for college and interviewing with admissions offices. REMINDER: Attention All Boy Spring Lacrosse Players: The conclusion of our fundraiser is this Sunday March 7th. We will meet at the Dake cafeteria. FYI - This morning IHS conducted a lockdown drill. New York state requires schools to practice this procedure annually in the event of an emergency or dangerous situation within the building or neighborhood that would require students and staff to stay behind locked doors. The drill went very smoothly, and classes proceeded as usual.
Parents/Guardians Of Seniors: There will be a Sr. Party Committee Meeting on Tuesday, March 9th at 7 pm in Rm. 1214. This classroom is located in the hallway closest to the doors between IHS and Dake. |

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER NEWS: The FairyGodmothers of Greater Rochester will be holding their annual Prom Fair on Saturday, March 20th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The program is designed to help girls with financial difficulties get a dress and accessories so they can attend their junior prom/senior ball. Students should register online at www.fairygodmothersrochester.comACT registration deadline is March 5th for the April 10th test. Register online at www.act.org Study guides and practice booklets are available in the College & Career Center.Attention Seniors The following scholarships are available to Irondequoit High School students or Town of Irondequoit residents only. See Mrs. Barnatones in the College & Career Center for an application. The Andrew G. Attinasi Scholar-Athlete Scholarship for at least $2,000 is available for a graduating IHS senior who has participated on a sanctioned high school athletic team during each year of high school, has attended IHS for all four years of high school and plans to participate in intercollegiate athletics in college. Deadline is April 2nd. The Natale Scholarship will award at least $1,000 to two deserving high school graduates from the town of Irondequoit. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be continuing on to either the University of Illinois, Rochester Institute of Technology or Niagara University. Deadline is May 1st. The Irondequoit Lions Club is offering the Dr. Robert M. Santo Memorial scholarship to high school seniors who have completed at least 50 hours of community service.
