Once again, Irondequoit High School is
ranked among the top 1 percent of all U.S. high schools, according to
the 2010 Newsweek magazine list of "America's Best High Schools." IHS
has a long, proud tradition of excellence in its Advanced Placement
program. This tradition has been enhanced in the last decade by the
addition of more AP courses, a doubling of students challenging AP-level
courses, and the continued strong performance of IHS students on the
exams, leading to college credit. Since 2008, IHS students have taken a
record number of exams -- while maintaining performance consistent with
our 15-year average, when far fewer students took AP. As a result, 21
percent of our 11th-graders entered their junior year with AP credit on
their transcript, and half of all seniors graduate with AP credit.
