If a pupil is absent and the absence is not reported as instructed above, the school will attempt to contact the parent.  On the day of return to school following an absence, the child must bring a written statement from the parent giving the date(s) and specific reason for the absence.  A similar statement is required for all instances of tardiness. At the K-3 level, a call is encouraged the day a child returns from absence.

For Grades 9-12: Absence/tardiness from high school for any reason must be reported by phone call to the attendance office by the parent on the day of the absence/tardiness or by note prior to the absence.  Calls may be made each day to the attendance clerk at 336-2918 between 7:45 a.m. and noon.  An answering service is available to take calls at other times, from noon to 7:45 a.m. and on weekends call 336-2130.  Unless parents can predict the number of days a student will be out, a daily call will be expected.

Requests for Early Dismissal - A written excuse indicating date, time, and reason for absence is required in advance for early dismissal from school.  No child in grades K-6 will be dismissed during school hours unless released to parent or another designated adult.
