Concepts + Skills =
The equation above represents our
district philosophy that a true understanding of mathematics is
developed not only through the acquisition and mastery of skills but
also the deep conceptual understanding of when and why those skills
should be applied in real life situations.
In support of this philosophy we have
chosen Math Expressions as our primary resource for K-5 math
A Parents' Guide to Math Expressions
Students in grades K-5 use Math Expressions. The resource has a companion Web site for parents (http://www.eduplace.com/parents/mthexp/). Click here for resources and games for students: http://www.eduplace.com/kids/mthexp/
As always we appreciate the support you provide at home.
Helping Your Child Learn Math

Noted from their site, "This booklet is made up of fun activities that parents can use with children from preschool age through grade 5 to strengthen their math skills and build strong positive attitudes toward math." http://www2.ed.gov/parents/academic/help/math/math.pdf
