Board of Education Role

The Board of Education is the official policy-making body for the school district.  Its responsibilities include:

  • Establishing an educational philosophy for the district;
  • Adopting policies for the operation of the school system;
  • Providing leadership for educational progress by setting goals and objectives;
  • Developing sound financial plans consistent with educational needs and community resources.
The board employs professional educators to administer its programs.
The policies of the Board of Education are guides for action on the part of the Superintendent of Schools, and through him, other district administrators.
