The NYS Comptroller’s office has announced the results of the audit of the West Irondequoit Central School District. It is important to note that the audit did not uncover any illegal practices; every penny is accounted for, there are no funds missing. In summary, the report states that the district has set aside funds in reserve accounts in larger amounts than the Comptroller’s office believes is necessary. It is the district’s opinion that, in general, reserves are funded at appropriate amounts. As auditors must look to short term management goals, good leaders must address long term objectives. Money in reserve accounts is there to fund anticipated expenses and to protect the fiscal and academic integrity of this district.
