Introduction

Around the world, you will find many different Biomes, grouped according to the climatic conditions, amount of precipitation, types of plants and animals and landforms.  We will be focusing on 8 of the biomes this year.

Task

You will work with 3-4 other scientists on an expedition to explore the Biomes of the world.  Your job is to research at least 3 of the biomes located below to report back to your group members.

Process

While researching each biome, you will look for:

                a) Major characteristics-

                            Amount of precipitation or rainfall

                            Temperature range

                            Locations of the biome

                b) Animals (Fauna)

                c) Plants (Flora)

                d) Draw an accurate picture of what the biome looks like including

                both plants and animals.

Follow the links below to find out more information about your biome!

Once you have completed your research, you will share out with your group members and teach each other about the different biomes.

Evaluation

You will use your knowledge of Biomes to construct a poster of 4 different biomes.  You will take one animal found in the biome we currently live, and adapt it to 4 other biomes around the world.  You will use your knowledge of biomes and animal adaptations to change your organism so it can survive in a new habitat!  You will receive a separate sheet detailing these steps once we have completed the research phase of our expedition.
