Driver Education

The course combines the benefits of practical driving along with defensive driving techniques for safe and responsible operation of a motor vehicle.  All students must hold a valid New York State learner’s permit or driver’s license. Successful completion of this course will qualify the student for DMV Certificate of Completion (formerly blue card).  Classes will consist of 24 hours of vehicle instruction including 6 hours of behind the wheel driving, and 24 hours of classroom instruction. The program includes a written exam and driving skills test.  Students are required to attend all sessions.  This requires a commitment on the part of students, parents and teachers in order to fulfill the New York State course requirements. A student with three absences will no longer be eligible to receive the Certificate of Completion. Registration forms for this program are available in the Community Education Office & online. Enrollment is limited to 16 students.
