|
Brief Description: |
During the Biographies unit
in Reader’s Workshop (after Theme 5 in the Houghton-Mifflin Grade 3
series), students will watch a 15 minute video about famous female
aviators in history. Before
watching the video, they can be given the questions “Did any of these
women face challenges on their paths to success? What challenges? What
characteristics helped them to overcome the challenges?” They can take notes during the
video and then discuss their ideas in groups post-video and after reading
“Brave Bessie Coleman: Pioneer Aviator” in their H-M book. They can then record their
responses in their Reading Response Logs.
