Procedures:

At the start of the year when the students are learning the very basics of class routines begin to insert the routines on one at a time onto the PowerPoint. Teach each job individually. The job(s) selected to be introduced that day should be on the TV, read together and explicitly taught. Even though many of the students will not be reading at that point they will become familiar with the order of the jobs and the expectations tied with the jobs. The students who are reading tend to read the jobs out loud which assist their non-reading class mates. Each morning as the students come in they will see the jobs on the screen. After a while and later into the year the jobs may be looped so that whenever the students look up they can read through the sequence again. Once we are all seated we read through again to check ourselves.

Assessment:

Teacher observation that the class is ready for the day and everything is in its place.
