Procedures:

Starting KidPix: Students should click on the KidPix icon. This may be on the desktop or it may in a desktop folder called K-3.

When KidPix opens, students should click on the KidPix icon at the center, top of the window.

Students will use several tool while creating their Flat Me pictures:

Wacky pencil, line tool, Rectangle, Oval, Paint Can, Stamp Sets, Undo Guy and the Color Palette.

Use the Wacky Pencil to draw a line COMPLETELY across the page to create a division between the land and sky. The must go completely across the page to allow the student to complete the next step.

Click to select the Paint Can. Click on the desired color Palette to select the color for the bottom half of the picture (for example, click Green to have the lower half of the picture represent grass) Now move the Paint Can (your cursor) over the lower half of the picture and click. Green should fill the lower half of the picture.

Repeat the process to color the upper half of the picture.

Add to the background by drawing with the pencil (a tree? a swing set? A house?)

Add to the background by using the animated stamp; change stamp sets by dropping down the Goodies menu at the very top of the screen and clicking on Choose a Stamp Set.

Now, students will draw themselves using the Circle and Rectangle tools. Remember, color is always selected using the Color Palette.

Finally, students will use the letter stamp to stamp Flat Name (i.e. Flat Sam).
