Line Graph Directions

 

1.                  Log on to the computer, and double click to open up Appleworks.

2.                  Click on "spreadsheet", and click "ok".

3.                  In cell A1, type “Date”.

4.                  In cell B1, type "Temperature".

5.                  In column A, type in the date for each temperature reading.  For example:  “March 1”.

6.                  In column B type in temperature numbers.

7.                  ONCE ALL YOUR DATA HAS BEEN TYPED IN, DOUBLE CHECK THAT IT IS CORRECT BEFORE GOING ON TO THE NEXT STEP.

8.                  Highlight all the cells which contain information, starting with cell A1. 

9.                  From the Options pull-down menu, select "make chart".

10.              From the Chart options gallery, select "line”.

11.              Click on the "labels" button, and then type in your title, next to the word “title”. 

12.              Click on the "axes" button, and then click on the check mark in front of "gridlines" to erase the check mark.  Then click on “y axis” and type in “Temperature in Degrees F”.  Click on the “x axis” and type in “Date”.

13.              Click "ok".

14.              Go to edit and click on copy.

15.              Go to file and click new.  Click "ok" for a new word procession document.

16.              Go to edit and click on "paste".  Don' resize it.

17.              Click under the graph with the cursor, and hit enter a few times.

18.              Type in your first and last name.  Hit enter 2 times.

19.              In a few complete sentences, explain to me what the graph can tell you.

20.              Go to file and save “line graph” in your folder.  Print out a copy and hand in.
