Power
Point Directions
1.
Log onto the computer: first initial, last name…password is your
“number”.
2.
Open up Microsoft Power Point.
3.
On the first screen (PowerPoint)-click on “blank presentation”, then click “ok”.
4.
Choose “new slide”. For the
title slide, click on the first “auto layout”, then
click “ok”.
5.
For the rest of your slides, go to insert and select “new slide” and
choose one of the layouts with the guy with the big nose.
6.
When you have a new slide, click to add title (which will be whatever
letter of the alphabet you are on). Then
click to add text (sentences), and click to add clip art.
7.
When you are ready to begin a new slide, go to “Insert” and choose “new
slide”.
SAVE
1. After you get started, save to the “shared on Iroquois Lab ser…”, make sure you save by last name, in the correct period folder (Boomer period 2, or Snyder period 1).
Format-background
effects
1.
Under format, choose background.
Click on the down arrow and choose “more colors”, or “fill effects” to
pick a background. Once you have
selected one, click on “apply”. DO NOT
APPLY “TO ALL”! Under “fill effects”,
choose “pre-set” to find some interesting backgrounds. You can change font, font colors, and font
size as you would in a word processing document.
View
1.
Under “view”, you can choose to view each slide one at a time, or you
can choose “slide sorter” to view all slides at the same time.
Transition
1.
When you are finished, go to view and choose slide sorter.
2.
Click on the first slide.
3.
Go to slide show, and choose “slide transition”. This is how each slide will move to the next
slide during the slide show.
4.
Click the triangle near “not transition”, and choose one and apply to
all. You can do a different transition
for each slide if you want to, and you have enough time.
5.
While in slide sorter, click on the first slide and choose slide show,
and click on “preset animation”.
6.
Preset animation is how the information on each slide comes onto the
slide. You can do each slide
individually, or you can hold the shift key down and choose one for all
slides. This is the fastest method.
To
Put Together
1.
Open one group member’s slide show (choose the letter “A” person), in
slide sorter view.
2.
Click after the last slide.
3.
Go to Insert-slides from files.
4.
Click on “browse”.
5.
Make sure it says, “shared on
Iroquois_lab_ser…” by the “Look in:” menu.
Choose the correct folder and click once on the show that you want to
open.
6.
Click display.
7.
Click insert all.
8.
Click close if done, or go back to step #4 if
you have other team members’ shows to insert.
9.
When finished, click close, and save the completed presentation to the
shared folder under the letter “A” student’s name.
Setting
Slide Show Timing
1.
Get an adult to get you started first.
2.
Open up your completed slide show, double
click on the first slide (title page).
3.
Go to slide show and choose rehearse timings.
4.
In the bottom right-hand corner there will be a timer, when it reaches
6 seconds, click the right arrow below it, to move to the next slide. If your slide takes a while to come up or
longer to read, don’t click the right arrow to move to the next slide, until
the entire slide is on the screen.
5.
When finished, click “yes” to save.
6.
Click yes to view.
7.
To view again, go to slide show and “view show”.
8.
To get out of the show wiggle the mouse in the lower left-hand corner
and find the “exit” button.
At
the End
1.
Ask for a disk.
2.
Put period/group names on the disk in pencil.
3.
Insert disk.
4.
Choose “save as” from file menu.
5.
Change “save in:” to 3 ½ floppy(a:).
6.
Save under the last name of the student that has the whole presentation
under there name (probably the letter “A” person).
7.
Give disk to teacher.
